About the concert bands

The concert bands perform regularly throughout the year which includes on campus concerts and rated festivals. At the end of the year in May, all the Northview students perform together with the middle school and elementary schools for a concert.

These ensembles perform in the following performances:

Winter Concert - On campus concert featuring holiday music and standard wind literature
Rated Festivals - Off campus performances for judges and a rating is given based on the quality of the performance. Literature selection is from an approved list of "academic" music and a superior is the highest rating that can be earned. Festivals can include a workshop with a guest clinician or a rating based on the sight-reading ability of the ensemble.
Retrofest - On campus performance of selected students that features all of Northview's visual and performing arts program which surveys a different decade of the arts. The performing arts students perform music from that selected decade and visual arts students create artwork.
Spring Concert - On campus concert to finish the school year and is a culmination of the skills and techniques the students have learned the entire year. Literature selection includes standard both standard and non traditional repertoire.
APU Concert - Final concert of the year which includes Las Palmas Middle School, Cypress, Manzanita, and Merwin Elementary schools. Concert is held at Azusa Pacific University and showcases the entirety of the Northview track in the Covina-Valley School District. Each high school has their own concert featuring the music programs in their track.
Graduation - Freshman, sophomore, and junior students perform for the graduating senior class!
